The European Commission has begun enforcing obligations on companies designated as gatekeepers under the Digital Markets Act. These platforms must comply with rules covering interoperability, data access, and restrictions on self preferencing. Gatekeepers must allow third party services to interoperate with certain platform features and provide business users with greater access to performance data. Technology companies operating platform ecosystems or competing with gatekeepers may see new integration opportunities, while large platforms must ensure their internal compliance programmes address DMA reporting, product design, and competition obligations.
